Thankful For My Skin - Why I Don't Like Plastic Surgery

AN: Before we go on this fails at life. But I would like to Thank Sue for her help as well. Her input was good. Mine fails……I have a poem though…

Also a warning, pictures further down may be disturbing and not suitable for those with weak stomachs.

Today there seems to be a growing trend as to the numerous amounts of people getting plastic surgery. What’s more is that there seems to be more advertising for it and I see it everywhere I go. It comes to a point where I sit there and think why? I can see in some extreme cases why the person chose, but now people are trying to perfect their imperfections…. This is why I am posting.

Thankful For My Skin – The Reasons Why I Don’t Like Plastic Surgery….

Breasts.jpg The bigger the breasts the better!! image by guitarstar10

Bigger breasts don’t usually mean bigger good attention. Right? And personally, I don’t want to be sat on the toilet seeing this glaring advertisement telling me my already sagging DD breasts need to be bigger. Not cool.

The money spent for treatment is extortionate! Really? Buy a new car, go on a clothes shopping spree, get your kids good things and why not give to charity?

I’m sorry but your children wont inherit your new nose. In fact, they will inherit your old one and frankly, they’d still look adorable. I don’t want to give up the compliment of “He looks just like you.” Because that kid is my creation….and would pull off my nose wayyy better =)

The thought of having fat from my ass injected into my face is completely disgusting…….

Why get rid of your scars? They tell stories:

"Omg where did you get that scar from?"
*glares at the dog* "Oh you think this is scar is bad, you should see the other guy?"

I believe growing old needs to be graceful. I don’t want to be 60 and look 16…

Where will it end? I mean Butt implants? Seriously, what next? Hand implants when your fingers become chubby? Skin grafts to become tanned? Is there no stopping this madness?

“Omg Candi is she wearing my nose?”
“You so pull it off better Ashlee…..”

Well, Micheal Jackson, obviously…….he used to be so good looking………..

You really want to risk it going wrong?

People :D

Because you were created that way for a reason. Your imperfections are what define you. I believe that true love is to know someone’s imperfections and love them too. Heck, Madonna went ape when they airbrushed her famous teeth. I see no more problems with you and as much as plastic surgery can alter your appearence, it cant alter your great spirit

i have no interest at all in plastic surgery
just coz people 'may' look prettier on the outside
it doesn't mean they are beautiful on the inside
and vice versa, there is no such thing as perfection
and it's stupid to try and reach it in such an extreme way

That was brilliant. Everyone who is considering plastic surgery should have to read something like that before they go ahead with it. The sad fact is that the surgery was invented for accident victims and has grown in to a monster and, as always, has come down to money.
H.Ballad: 11/01/2007 3:33 PM
Thanks guys =)

I hope to be able to actually breathe out both nostrils someday, thank you very much. My nose was destroyed when I was around 10 by a younger cousin ramming it with a toy tractor repeatedly before I could get up. You might not love me for my decision to restore it someday, but I still love myself.

That is so different from what this was about. Sarah is talking about celebrities who have their breasts enlarged and reduced just to be fashionable. You, on the other hand, can't breathe out of both nostrils? How awful... Have you asked your doctors about having that fixed?
H.Ballad: 11/01/2007 4:19 PM
Like I said previously, I'm not talking about people who, like you, have good reasons for plastic surgery. I mean, you aren't changing it to look better are you? You're changing it because you want to be able to breath properly.......

Don't hit out on me, I understand why you'd want to do that......... hmmkay....

just because your not beautiful to the media or snobs doesnt mean your ugly. beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Nobody should care what 'snobs' think - that's ridiculous, for sure, if anyone actually gets it because other people think they should.

If someone wants to be in the media, they have legitimate reasons to be thinking about how they look. It doesn't mean they aren't naturally pretty - just as if someone wears makeup, or nice clothes, or perfume, or takes showers doesn't mean they don't think they are pretty.

I bring adversiting into all of my arguments like this because it, on the whole, is a big debate. Its like the whole MacDonalds debate, right? Do we blame MacDonalds for the amount of advertising it persists or do we blame the consumer?
In my opinion, it is both. Adverts are made and cleverfully designed for some gullible people to buy their product. And yes, the person who takes that without research properly is stupid.

All I am saying with this, is that extreme examples such as Breast reductions and your cases, can be exceptions of Plastic Surgery. But in nowadays its an accessory and I don't want PS to be glamourised in anyway. It was a way of saying, feel good with yourself. PS should be total last extreme resort...........

I've always been made fun of, cause to put it simply, I've got little boobs.
I'm probably skinnier than I should be, and I'm kind of awkward looking. Too big of a nose, but it's what makes me Kiley. I wouldn't be the same person without them though, and I'm definitely not afraid of imperfection, because the human race in the definition of the very word.

McDonald's is disgusting - I would see their advertisements as being much worse than plastic surgery advertisements, since people tend to get hungry when they hear about food whether or not they have respect for who/what mentioned it, not spend as much effort thinking about what they eat than they would on making a more permanent decision such as plastic surgery or a tattoo (DIY or ill-researched tattoos can be just as bad as ill-researched plastic surgery), AND McDonald's commercials tend to show people otherwise behaving in a healthy manner (not sure about internationally, but here in the US their ads always show Ronald without any excess weight on him, playing sports or otherwise doing something active), implying that their food can be part of a healthy diet. Still, any idiot knows it's not healthy, and if someone's in there every week or more, yeah, they're asking for problems - the commercial didn't force them do it, even if it may have had a hand in them misleading themself, or we'd all be like that - because who hasn't seen a McDonald's commercial? On the occasion I find myself in a fast food restaurant (which is probably less than once in 3 months), it's only because someone else took me there, and even then I only eat fruit slices since that's usually all they have that I can.
